Cortland Arts Connect invites photographers of all levels and backgrounds to participate in the Annual Regional Photography Exhibit 2023. The exhibit is a wonderful opportunity for photographers to share their works with the community and celebrate the art of photography and compete for awards and recognition.

The exhibit will be held at the Cortland Free Library Gallery, for the month of October and will be open to visitors during the library’s regular hours.

This year, the exhibit features three exciting categories that challenge photographers to capture the beauty and diversity of the world around them. The specific categories for this year are Black and White, Birds, and Humor.

Photographers can also submit their works to the Open category, which allows them to express their creativity and vision without any restrictions. The Open category welcomes photographs of any subject, style, or genre.

This year the exhibit will not have a category that accepts photographs that have been digitally created or significantly altered digitally by combining and/or manipulating images so that they do not represent reality. However, standard digital techniques such as brightness, contrast, and sharpening to enhance the final image are allowed.

To enter the exhibit, photographers should email up to two photos as JPG, GIF, or PDF files to admin@cortlandartsconnect.org by August 31. The files should include the photographer’s first initial and last name, the preferred category, and the titles of the photos. The entry fee is $20 per photographer. The entries will be juried, and the selected photographers will be notified September 8th. 

A reception will be scheduled in October at the Cortland Free Library to announce the awards for each category. The reception will feature refreshments, and a chance to meet the photographers and judge more details will be announced later.
